Pyrowest Fireworks Ltd. is Northern Alberta's premier fireworks company, based just outside Edmonton, serving customers across Western Canada. Led by a licensed Display Fireworks Supervisor with over 20 years of experience, Pyrowest operates across three distinct lines of business — retail consumer fireworks, professional large-scale displays, and close-proximity pyrotechnics for venues and stage events.
Lumestea Innovex Private Limited partnered with Pyrowest to design and build a complete WordPress + WooCommerce e-commerce platform — one that sells fireworks online with the same trust, safety, and professionalism the brand delivers in person, while also giving event organizers a clear path to enquire about professional and close-proximity services.
Problem Statement
Fireworks are a category most e-commerce platforms aren’t built for. Pyrowest needed a site that could handle challenges most online stores never face:
- Trust is make-or-break — customers want reassurance around safety, legality, and licensing before they'll buy explosives-adjacent products online
- Three very different buyers in one store — backyard/residential shoppers, professional event organizers needing wholesale-grade fireworks, and venues needing licensed close-proximity pyrotechnics
- Sharp seasonal demand spikes — Diwali, New Year's, Canada Day, wedding season, and birthdays all drive very different buying moments throughout the year
- Delivery matters more than usual — customers want clear visibility into where a sensitive, regulated product actually is, not just a generic "shipped" status
- No single off-the-shelf template fits a catalog that spans sparklers and novelties on one end and $5M-insured professional displays on the other.
Objectives
- Launch a fully functional WooCommerce storefront for retail fireworks — browsing, filtering, cart, and checkout.
- Build credibility into the experience itself — licensing, safety ratings, insurance coverage, and 20+ years of expertise visible at the right moments, not buried in a footer
- Support all three business lines — retail e-commerce, professional displays, and close-proximity services — without confusing the shopping experience
- Integrate Stripe for secure payments, alongside flexible options like PayPal, net banking, and cash on delivery
- Give customers full order visibility — from confirmation to live delivery tracking — inside a dedicated account dashboard
- Build seasonal merchandising tools — sale countdowns, discount badges, featured/best-seller sections — to convert around key dates

Before designing a single screen, the team worked to understand what makes fireworks e-commerce different:
- Competitor and category analysis of fireworks retailers to see how trust, safety, and legality are typically communicated online
- Customer segmentation across three personas: the residential backyard buyer, the event/wedding planner sourcing sparklers or displays in bulk, and the professional/venue client needing licensed close-proximity pyrotechnics
- Seasonal demand mapping — Diwali, New Year's Eve, Canada Day, wedding season, and birthdays — to plan for merchandising and promotional moments year-round
- Trust-signal audit — identifying exactly where licensing, insurance ($5M coverage), safety ratings, and Michael's 20+ years of experience needed to appear to reduce purchase hesitation
The clearest insight: this couldn’t just be “another WooCommerce store.” Safety and credibility needed to be part of the shopping experience itself, not an afterthought on an About page.

The site was structured around one core idea: let people shop with confidence, and let event organizers reach the team easily.
- Retail storefront (self-serve) — a full WooCommerce catalog with filtering by category, price, discount, rating, and shipping eligibility, built for fast, independent shopping
- Professional & Close Proximity (enquiry-led) — dedicated sections explaining licensing, insurance, and process, ending in a direct enquiry flow rather than a cart — because these services are quoted, not bought off the shelf
- Trust woven throughout — safety ratings (e.g. Class C approved), licensing, and insurance details placed directly on product and About pages, not isolated to policy pages
- WooCommerce + Stripe chosen specifically for flexible catalog management, reliable seasonal promotion tools (sales, coupons, countdowns), and secure, familiar checkout
- A full account dashboard — orders, wishlist, saved addresses, saved payment methods, and live order tracking — to support repeat customers across fireworks seasons

- Storefront A homepage built to convert — hero messaging, trust badges (free delivery, 24/7 support, easy refunds, gift vouchers), featured/on-sale/ top-rated product tabs, a live sale-of-the-day countdown, and a "New Arrivals" showcase by category.
- Shop & Product Pages A filterable product catalog (category, price range, discount tier, rating, availability, shipping eligibility) and detailed product pages with highlights, full specifications (category, pack size, burn duration, safety rating), verified customer reviews, and related products.
- Cart, Checkout & Orders A clear cart and order summary, Stripe-powered checkout with multiple payment options (card, PayPal, net banking, cash on delivery), saved addresses and cards, an order confirmation screen, and live order tracking with a delivery timeline.
